Key Features of the Non-Lucrative Visa

  • No Employment Allowed: Holders cannot work or conduct business activities in Spain.

  • Financial Self-Sufficiency: Applicants must demonstrate they have sufficient funds to support themselves and any dependents.

  • Initial Validity: The visa is initially granted for one year, with the possibility of renewal.

  • Path to Permanent Residency: After five years of continuous residency, holders may apply for permanent residency.

  • Proof of Financial Means: Bank statements, pension statements, or other documents showing sufficient funds.

  • Private Health Insurance: Comprehensive coverage without co-payments, valid throughout Spain.

  • Criminal Record Certificate: From the applicant’s country of residence for the past five years.

  • Proof of Accommodation: Rental agreement or property deed in Spain.

Application Process

  2. Submission: Apply at the Spanish consulate or embassy in your country of residence.

  3. Decision Period: The consulate has up to three months to process the application.
